Origin is a digital platform developed by Electronic Arts (EA) for shopping and downloading games. Similar to Steam, Origin is necessary to access and play EA's major releases. Through this platform, users can easily purchase and download games multiple times as needed. Additionally, Origin offers a social feature where users can maintain a friends list and communicate with them at any time. The platform also allows for game gifting. One advantage of Origin is that it stores all data on the internet, eliminating concerns about computer malfunctions. Users can always re-download their purchases, including saved game files, which are securely stored in the cloud. Origin provides users with some free games, such as Battlefield Heroes, Need for Speed World, and Battleforge, allowing them to experience the platform without spending money. Currently, Origin is not as essential as Steam. However, if EA continues to release their major titles exclusively on Origin, it will become a necessary installation for gamers.
